futureFERNS

Netball New Zealand’s Official

Junior Netball Programme

Woolworths futureFERNS is a wonderful programme set up by Netball New Zealand and run by the Pohutukawa Coast Netball Club, under the guidance of Howick Pakuranga Netball Centre and Netball Northern Zone.

Each session, our futureFERNS participants are coached on a netball skill by our trained coaches. This skill session is followed by a netball game which gives them the opportunity to put the skill they have learned into use. This program is designed for boys and girls from Years 1 to 4. No previous netball experience is required.

futureFERNS is held inside at Te Puru Community Centre, so it will always be on no matter what the weather is doing! Given the space inside, we are strictly limited to the number of boys and girls we can accommodate in this programme.

The programme runs every Wednesday and Friday afternoon during Term 2 and Term 3, as follows:

Session Times:

  • Session 1: Wednesday - 4.30pm to 5.30pm

  • Session 2: Friday - 4.30pm to 5.30pm

  • Session 3: Friday - 5.30pm to 6.30pm

Programme Dates:

TERM 2

  • Wednesday 1 May to Wednesday 26 June (9 weeks)

  • Friday 3 May to Friday 28 June (9 weeks)

TERM 3

  • Wednesday 24 July to Wednesday 18 September (9 weeks)

  • Friday 26 July to Friday 20 September (9 weeks)

A uniform is not required, however we do offer training shirts with the option of having your child's name screen-printed along the bottom.

For this program to run successfully, we need the assistance of parent coaches.  Coaches will be given full training and support during the 18 week program. Parents that are coaches will be given priority on placement for their child/ren in the programme.  This is a great way to get involved and learn new skills!
